Cardiology in Sports Symposium

‘The inaugural “Cardiology in British Sport” symposium is being held on Friday 23rd March, aimed at anyone with an interest in the athelte’s heart, including juniors, consultants and allied health professionals. This is the first time the leading institutions of British sport are coming together, including the Football Association, Rugby Football Union and English Cricket Board, to highlight key issues with the athlete’s heart that are currently being faced by medical practitioners.

Fabrice Muamba, a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest, will be a guest speaker and there is an optional tour of Wembley Stadium, along with lunch and refreshments.

Imperial College Sport & Exercise Medicine Society: Annual Conference 2018

Venue: Brian Drewe Lecture Theatre, Reynolds Building, Charing Cross Hospital, W6 8RP

Guest lecturers from a variety of backgrounds will be delivering talks on specialist topics including Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction, Gut Dysbiosis and musculoskeletal health, Football Medicine and much more. There will be opportunities to explore the options for pursuing a career in SEM, engage in Q&A sessions and network with our speakers.

We also invite you to submit an abstract (300 word limit) to semsoc@imperial.ac.uk on any topic related to Sport & Exercise Medicine. It can be your own research or a literature review. We encourage you to be creative and innovative with your ideas! Deadline: Saturday 3rd February at midnight. There will be a poster presentation during the lunch break. Winners will receive one year’s FREE membership to the European College of Sport & Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP). Dr Dawn Thompson will be judging the submissions.
